Our Story

"Ever since I grew up and started getting into the world I get obsessed with three things; adventure, people, and how complex things work."-E

Erik- When I went to college at Michigan State I integrated myself within the outdoor scene, the hippy scene, and electronic music. After moving into a community commune on campus I saw vanlife and what it could provide within affordable endless adventure and travel. I knew what I wanted. I viciously strived towards a lifestyle were I could make these things happen. Pretty much making sure I don't make bulky purchases that I would need to store. While I was in college I had a lot of friends in the community that also daydreamed about having a campervan. Many of them showing me pictures of beautiful vans and telling me "this one will be like mine". Mind you, we were full of aspiration and the implied promise of basically being instantly loaded once we graduate college. I, just wanted a high roof white van that's reliable. I knew the rest would figure itself out. As I graduated I got tossed into my internship program in Detroit (I know) and had absolutely no freedom. Pure unadulterated misery for a year. 40 hours working for free. 6 hours a week working for 10.50. I would sit on the parking garage of the hospital everyday just dreaming of leaving everything. Dreaming of having a van with no ties. At this point I was fully aware that becoming a modern nomad is far from an easy feat and requires income still. I knew I needed to own the van outright, it needed to be mechanically sound & I needed to figure out SOME string of income while on the road or a savings to slowly burn through while I work remote (more on that later).Â
